Quality cat foods

Cat food that has quality

Quality cat food from good sources

Cat food is so important & it is valuable to know the quality & source

Get quality cat foods from a reliable source for your cat companion. They deserve safe and nutritious cat foods. You deserve not having to research which ones are safe in a changing market. I try to avoid having corn in my pet foods.

The reason is not the corn, but the mold that easily grows in corn that is wet or in a wet environment. This mold spreads quickly through bulk storage and can be toxic. It can also cause allergies and food sensitivities.

Brands

I found that even in good brands, some items are not a good choice. This list is a changing one as well. This research was ingredients, ratings, reviews, and source companies.

Dry Cat Foods

Taste of the Wild was at one time a good pet food. They have been dealing with lawsuits in 2018 and 2019, both for the presence of heavy metal and pesticide found in their dog food. Even when you like a pet food, you must keep up on what is happening with it.  This is a good example of that…

Even before it gets to the point of a lawsuit… read reviews… if there are alarming comments, you can see a problem surfacing. This was what struck alarm bells with me for this brand.

I have found a similar lawsuit and time-frame for the makers of Orijen and Acana brand dog food.

Canned Cat Foods

My cats really enjoy Friskies canned, but…

I have fed Friskies canned foods to my cats occasionally. They always love these the most. They are very affordable and the gravy ones are always the favorite. I don’t know what they put in that stuff, but they go nuts for it. As they are getting quite old, the gravy is mostly what they are interested in consuming. I believe that this food is not healthy and feel the ‘shreds’ in some of those look like leather industry waste.

It does not look healthy…

I have read that it does not rate well on the ingredients. This is not a surprise to me. I do not think this is unusually detrimental food, but it is not good nutritionally. I look upon it as junk food. And just like us… we often love junk food that is not nutritionally good for us. The first ingredient is usually meat by-products and they often use corn, and are high in carbs.

OK… now here are healthy canned cat foods that are better to give your cat instead

TURKEY CANNED CAT FOOD INGREDIENTS

This is what I am leaning towards now… gravy or broth

The portion of the Friskies that is the gravy or broth is all that is being consumed sometimes. Therefore, it just makes sense to get something like this when the solid part does not look that great. She does not like the seasoning in human version.

I give her the juice from things like canned tuna or chicken when I makes salads of these. None of that goes to waste… and this is the cat that normally turns her nose up at people food scraps. This too can be served separate or over the cat foods.

Cat grasses

These grasses can be oat, rye, barley, and wheat grasses or a mix of them. It is believed that grass helps cats nutritionally, gives them fiber, and helps in their digestion in various ways. Grass may be valuable to you if your cat is strictly indoors. This can also help when they are outdoors, because we all know how people are putting chemicals on weeds. Having this grass can keep your cats from damaging your beloved house plants too.

It does not hurt to try it…

One of the things that make keeping cat grasses for them easy is that you can keep it in the refrigerator, which keeps it longer and healthier. Maybe your cat wants this, maybe not… they may throw up far less or maybe not. This is different with each cat. It will be trial and error on finding out whether it is a benefit to have.

If they don’t like the cat grasses, you can try getting food that has it or other greens included

Some prefer to have plant material incorporated in the cat foods instead. Even if having the grass doesn’t work out with your cats… it is healthy in your salads too.

Cat Grasses for your cat
