Healthy lifestyle is a great goal and it can be easy!

Add good healthy things to your life

When you add things that are healthy for you and you love… This becomes a focus of what we GET TO HAVE… not what we can’t! You will look forward to these wonderful healthful things you get to eat. Try new foods. Maybe there are lots of healthy foods that you did not even know that you like! Try the old foods you did not like as a kid. Our tastes change and you might like those a lot now… Don’t miss out! You want to be able to have a lot of variety in what you can eat.

Healthy lifestyle includes delicious food

Healthy food is easy to love

Collect a supply of great beneficial things you enjoy eating and surround yourself with these things in a good variety. Now you are eating the right foods, not feeling like you are being denied anything. Even unplanned hungry moments or wanting a snack will be covered just fine. Collect recipes. Make dishes for yourself that you love, and pack yourself meals for times away from home. This is getting to your goal!

Take small steps – don’t feel overwhelmed

You don’t have to feel overwhelmed in creating your new lifestyle! This will not require complete overhaul of your life. That is an approach that can prevent your success and stress you out! Just add healthful things to your life. Take small steps to reach your goal. Keep adding those beneficial things to your life, and make them a part of your life. You will build your new way of living. Build your way to the goal.

Plenty of water

Starting your day with some water can benefit you, that will be easy if you have to take pills. Drinking a lot of water can be good for filling yourself to prevent overeating if you have trouble with that, or just maybe just to eat less. Water intake can hydrate you properly, but also is a natural way to clean things from your body that you should get rid of… including waste. Make sure you are drinking the proper amount of water to benefit your health.

Add vegetables and fruit

Try new food. Find new favorites. Eat colorful fruits and vegetables. The more colorful they are, the more phytonutrients they have. Phytonutrients have more potent anti-cancer and anti-heart disease effects. Fruits and vegetables in our diet are proven to give us improved health.

If you choose to not eat meat, that will bring challenges to make sure that you cover the nutrition that will be lacking without it. I do not feel a need to do that myself. The meat in your diet should be lean. Limit meat fat where you can.

These are the things to limit or eliminate

Please DO NOT get to a place of feeling you are denied these things. Remember we are making this a ‘WHAT I GET TO HAVE’ lifestyle. You can have the things you love that are in this category on occasion. ENJOY your improved lifestyle!

Processed food

These are foods that have very low nutritional value and very high calorie intake! Processed foods are proven to be detrimental to our well being. Make a note of the most loved items in this category and save those for eating on rare occasions.

This way these foods will not be in your life to a harmful amount and you can enjoy them that much more when you do eat them. Maybe you will get to a point where you don’t care about them even! DO NOT keep these around in any significant quantity. Make it a hassle to get them or encounter them. This will make your goal easier.

Fat

We should all limit the amount of fat intake. Cut the fat off that meat. Don’t eat much sausage. You know what you can do to improve your situation here if you think it through and develop your plan. And don’t hand those fat trimmings to your pet, these are bad for them too. When your pet gets too much fat in their diet, it can lead to overwhelmed kidneys and kidney failure. We all should ALL have a proper diet.

Sugar

I know… this is a hard one to limit. These are excess calories that are not good for us. This is probably very important if there is family history for diabetes. My decadent food that love and have to limit is chocolate. This is very difficult for me. There are so many things in the high sugar content foods that go hand in hand with high fat content too.

Make sure to be active, not sedentary – add activity

Being too sedentary is bad for our health. It can lead to poor circulation, increase in weight and blood pressure. The easy change for us is to make a habit of going for walks. This fills both the improvement of our activity level, but can bring us out in nature more, which can improve our mental well being too. Getting into a schedule of doing this with a loved one or a group can add a social element to your activity and force you to stay on schedule for this.

Here are activities that I enjoy so much that they are easy to get myself to do them… and consistently do them…

Hiking, swimming, jumping on a trampoline, step aerobics, dancing, weight-lifting… plus I have home gym equipment that I love to use. What activities do you enjoy? Maybe this is a journey of exploration that you will be just beginning… Weights for weight-lifting can be a couple of cans from the pantry. Yoga and floor exercise can use a mat or just a large towel. Ballet type exercise you want to do can use a high backed chair in place of the bar. Fitness does not have to have a price tag.

A decadent food item occasionally is not a problem!

If you are eating healthy most of the time, then a decadent thing occasionally should not be a problem. You can enjoy those things still. This WILL NOT BE YOUR FOCUS.
